ABOUT ME

'Experience is the highest authority'
Rollo May

I have worked as a counsellor for over 20 years in private practice, education and the performing arts. I work online and face to face.

I qualified in 2000, having been awarded a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling from the University of Warwick. I have a Dip. H.E. in Addiction Studies from Leeds University, awarded in 2015 and I am also MBTI qualified.

I worked as a counsellor at Cirencester Tertiary College from 2000-2014, and at Cheltenham College, both Junior and Senior Schools, from 2004-2010. I have been in private practice since 2010.

I work with the Person Centred Approach, taking your experience, understanding, knowledge and goals as the core of our work. My role is to support you and work with you to reach those goals using my experience, understanding, knowledge and skills.

Rollo May wrote that “Experience is the highest authority”; for me that means your experiences and the way you experience the world will be the centre of our work together.

I have experience of working with adults, couples, children and young people experiencing:

Anxiety and depression

Difficulties with drugs and alcohol and other addictive habits

Divorce

Domestic violence

Loss and bereavement

Making life-changing decisions

Parent/child struggles

Relationships

Self harm

Sexual abuse and rape

Stresses and strains of life

Suicidal thoughts and feelings

What do I do now?

I am MBACP registered, have regular supervision, maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line the requirements of continued registration and work with the BACP Ethical Framework. I am fully insured to work with individuals, couples and groups.
